Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Rug 37x53 Natural Dyed Wool
$495.00
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This antique hand-knotted Persian rug is an original late 19th to early 20th century weaving from Northwest Iran, likely produced in the Heriz or Karaja region. Featuring a geometric field layout, this antique hand-knotted Persian rug displays a striking medallion design with latch-hook motifs and angular floral elements.
Handwoven using wool pile on a wool foundation, this antique hand-knotted Persian rug is coloured with natural vegetable dyes. The palette includes terracotta, indigo blue, soft ivory, pale rose, and sage green, all showing abrash typical of natural dye techniques. Its compact dimensions of 37" x 53" (94 cm x 135 cm) make it ideal as an entryway rug, accent piece, or wall hanging.
This antique hand-knotted Persian rug is structurally sound with moderate wear consistent with age. The original hand-applied selvage and fringe are intact. The symmetrical (Turkish) knots and wool-on-wool construction are typical of Persian tribal rugs from this period.
Collectors and interior designers will appreciate the tribal authenticity and decorative versatility of this antique hand-knotted Persian rug. Its handmade character and visible irregularities reflect the artistry of the weaver and the era.
Please note: This antique hand-knotted Persian rug cannot be shipped to the United States due to import restrictions on Iranian-origin goods.
