Antique German Porcelain Chocolate Service Roses Decoration

$195.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is an antique German porcelain chocolate service featuring a tall lidded pot with four matching cups and saucers. The pieces are decorated with transfer-applied roses in pink, yellow, and red tones, accented with hand-applied gilding. The floral transfers on the pot and cups are signed “Orville,” while one saucer carries the signature “Piderit.”.  This antique German porcelain chocolate service likely dates to the 1900 to 1914 time frame.

The lidded pot (often referred to as a chocolate pot due to its taller, narrower form compared to a coffee pot) measures 8 inches in height at the spout, exclusive of the lid. Each cup measures 3 inches high, and the saucers measure 4 1/2 inches in diameter. The undersides are marked “Germany,” and the cups are impressed with the number 468.

Condition: This antique German porcelain chocolate service has no chips or cracks. There is some transfer skipping to the decoration, which is consistent with age and the original manufacturing process, as this type of transfer-applied design was often delicate when fired. Overall, this antique German porcelain chocolate service presents beautifully.

This is a fine example of early 20th-century German porcelain, both decorative and collectible.

This is a very pretty Art Nouveau era antique German porcelain chocolate service - very decorative display set!
