Antique British WWI Royal Horse Guards Equitation Instructor Badge

Brand Etsy

This is an old badge that would have been worn as a qualification as an Equitation Instructor for the Royal Horse Guards. You can tell that it is a quite old example by the quality of the wound metallic threading and the type of sequins used - my best guess would be WWI era but it could be older. It is in very good condition - please view the enlarged photos. It measures 3 1/4 in height and 1 7/8 in width. The Royal Horse Guards have a long history, dating back to the 17th century, originally formed on orders by Oliver Cromwell and then transferred to the service of King Charles II in 1660. Interesting collectible badge from a British military unit with a long history of service
