This is an antique printed silk calendar that was originally an insert in the weekly magazine The Gentlewoman. The Gentlewoman: An Illustrated Weekly Journal for Gentlewomen was published from 1890 until 1926. At some point they started offering a printed silk insert with certain issues of the magazine. This one features four Edwardian era ladies, each representing one of the seasons with the calendar for 1910 appearing at the bottom. The top margin reads Supplement to The Gentlewoman Christmas Number. I assume that it was issued at Christmas 1909 as the calendar is for 1910. The piece is spot glued to a paper backing, but you could remove the paper with maybe two small glue spots remaining on the back of the silk. The silk has frayed at the edges, particularly the top and bottom, but image is fully intact. It measures 9 1/2 by 15.
With a bit of work and maybe a framing, this will make a charming display piece - lovely depictions of period fashion!
