This is a red taffeta vintage astrology dress that is decorated with gold appliqués of stars, quarter moons and the various astrological sign names in French. The sleeves read “Jo Jo”. I believe that this vintage astrology dress belonged to Quebec astrological celebrity Jocelyne Jo Jo Savard. I acquired it in a roundabout way, not directly from her, but I can’t see this as having belonged to anyone else. You can search for her biography online - she is quite a colourful character, known as the “Goddess of the moon and Queen of the stars. She had a very successful psychic phone business and was a regular on television starting in 1981.
This vintage astrology dress is made in typical 80s style with elbow length puff sleeves decorated with matching ribbons, a sweetheart neckline, a V shaped waistline and a full skirt. I posed the skirt with a crinoline in order to better show the appliqués, however, a crinoline is optional - none is provided. Note that the Ss and Ns are reversed in the astrological names - I’m uncertain as to the significance of this.
Fabric: There is no content label as this vintage astrology dress was obviously custom made, but it is made of a taffeta fabric
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this vintage astrology dress should fit a large size, please note the following measurements for fit, keeping the style of the dress in mind:
Shoulders: 16” across shoulder/sleeve seams

Bust: 42”
Waist: 36”
Hips: Full - meant to fall loosely/flare out
Length: 56”, measured flat from the neckline to the hemline
Condition: This vintage astrology dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour, just a couple of black spots at the neckline where probably a brooch was affixed.
This is a pretty wonderful vintage astrology dress - certainly one-of-a-kind. Great piece if you’re a fan of astrology!
