1940s 50s Vintage Wool Blue Blazer Double-Breasted Size M
This vintage wool blue blazer dates to the late 1940s or early 1950s. It is a finely constructed double-breasted navy blue blazer featuring substantial shoulder padding, a full chest, and a slightly nipped waist—a silhouette characteristic of early postwar menswear.
Made in a medium-weight navy wool, the blazer has a four-button double-breasted closure (1-to-close), peaked lapels, and large patch pockets at the hips and chest pocket. The buttons are made of abalone shell. Inside, it is half-lined in blue satin.
Maker’s label: Terrace Club Sportswear, a Fashion Craft origination. Fashion Craft was a Montreal manufacturer that has a place in history due to its efforts, along with the Semi-Ready clothing manufacturing company, to break a general strike by the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union in 1916 in the Montreal clothing industry. In the end the workers won a number of concessions and Fashion Craft continued in business at least into the 1960s.
