1930s Vintage Southern Belle Teapot & Sugar Bowl 20 oz

$75.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a very cute vintage Southern Belle teapot and sugar bowl set, dating to the mid-20th century, probably 1930s, maybe 40s. Each piece is moulded and hand-painted, featuring a lady in a wide crinoline dress and bonnet, her skirt forming the body of the vessel. The teapot lid and sugar lid are each topped with a full-figure model of the lady, making them both functional and decorative.

This vintage Southern Belle teapot has a capacity of about 20 oz (2 1/2 cups), making it suitable for personal or small servings. Both the teapot and sugar bowl are finished in soft blended shades of pink, red, green, and blue with hand-detailed features on the figure.

These figural sets were popular novelty items of the 1930s–1950s, produced for export to Western markets. While English firms also produced similar designs, this unmarked example is most consistent with Japanese manufacture of the period.

Condition: Both the vintage Southern Belle teapot and sugar are in very good condition, clean inside and out with no chips, cracks, or repairs.

This is a charming vintage Southern Belle teapot and sugar bowl, sure to appeal to collectors of figural tea ware!
