Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) Foil Luggage Label | c.1950 | Canadian Aviation Memorabilia

Original Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) self-adhesive foil luggage label dating to approximately the late 1940s or early 1950s. Produced before the airline adopted the Air Canada name in 1965, the label features the classic red maple leaf enclosing the initials TCA, surrounded by the words "Trans-Canada Air Lines" in metallic lettering.

Designed to be applied to luggage or travel cases, labels of this type were distributed to passengers and promoted Canada's national airline during the formative years of commercial air travel. The embossed metallic foil construction and maple leaf design reflect the graphic style associated with the post-war jet age, even though the airline was then operating piston-engined aircraft.

The label measures 3 1/8 inches in diameter. It is attached to a backing card, stuck there by its own adhesive on the reverse.

Condition

The label remains in very good unused condition. It retains bright original colours  and iss mounted on a cardboard backing.
