Antique Miniature German Porcelain Half Doll Bust Little Girl Edwardian Era
This is a charming and unusually small antique porcelain half-doll bust, most likely dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1920, and believed to be of German manufacture.
Standing just 1 1/2 inches tall, this delightful miniature depicts a young blonde girl with a rather serious, almost wistful expression. Her delicately hand-painted face features finely outlined eyes looking slightly to one side, softly rouged cheeks, small red lips and lightly coloured eyebrows.
Her blonde hair is arranged in a short, softly waved style, with a narrow green band encircling the crown of her head. She wears a white dress with a broad neckline edged in bright green and generously puffed short sleeves, characteristic of fashions associated with the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.
The little girl holds a large pinkish-purple object in her arms, possibly intended to represent a floral bouquet. The contrasting colours provide a particularly attractive accent to the otherwise predominantly white porcelain figure.
The doll is fashioned in glazed porcelain with hand-painted details and has a hollow circular base with small holes for sewing onto a fabric skirt or pincushion. These miniature porcelain figures were popular decorative sewing accessories during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Although unmarked, the style and construction suggest German manufacture.
Measurements:
Height: 1 1/2 inches
Width: 1 inch

An appealing and particularly diminutive example of an early porcelain half-doll, with charming hand-painted features, delicate colouring and an unusual miniature size.
