Nierstrasz, Civil Engineer, Amsterdam, indicating that the catalogue belonged to a practising engineer during the earliest years of electric railway expansion. There are also a few contemporary blue manuscript calculations and notes in the foreword, providing additional evidence that the volume was used as a professional reference rather than simply retained as a promotional catalogue.

Condition
The covers exhibit moderate soiling, staining and age toning, with the original cloth spine intact. The interior is, for the most part, remarkably clean. There is a small amount of blue manuscript notation and calculations in the foreword margins, minor dust soiling where several fold-out plates created small openings at the fore edge, and light age toning consistent with its age. A pencil notation on the title page questions the publication date, but the text within the catalogue clearly establishes that it documents Thomson-Houston street railways in operation on March 1, 1892. The fold-out photographic plates remain present and display beautifully. Overall, this is a very good example of a scarce engineering publication.
