Vintage 60s Cavalry Twill Wool Coat Overcoat Samuelsohn Sz M

This is a quality 60s era cavalry twill wool coat made by Samuelsohn.  Cavalry twill is a worsted wool with distinctive diagonal double linear weave originally used for cavalry trousers due to its hardwearing quality.  It is similar to wool gabardine but less shiny, so in that respect, more desirable.   This twill wool coat has a faux fur collar and lapel and is made in a six button double breasted configuration.  It has a flapped pocket at either side and a chest pocket.  The cuffs of the sleeves each have a single button and there is a 17 1/2” kick vent at the back.  The interior in lined in rayon satin with tartan wool across the lower interior.  This twill wool coat is made in a knee length.

Label:  Authentic English Cavalry Twill Tailored by Samuelsohn.  Samuelsohn was founded in 1923 by Lesser Samuelsohn, who moved to Montreal from New York - the business has thrived and expanded over the years, and is now a $15 million business.  Samuelsohn is known as a quality maker - some well known luxury brands contract manufacturing out to them.

Sizing: Size 38 regular is indicated on this twill wool coat - although it should fit a medium size please rely on the following measurements for fit, keeping in mind that you need more room if you are wearing a jacket underneath:

Shoulders:  18” across shoulder seams

Sleeves:  25”

Sleeve Inseam:  17” 

Chest:  44” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  42” around

Overall length: 39"

Condition:  This twill wool coat is in very clean condition with no wear, tear, pulls, stains or odours, except for a tiny bit of wear to the front tip of the right side of the collar (see last close-up photo) - not noticeable at all when the collar is worn down rather than up.  Otherwise, this twill wool coat has been very well stored over the last 55 or so years.
