Unused Vintage 1940s Suit Jacket Fashion Craft Montreal S 36

$110.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1940s suit jacket that I don’t think that it was ever used as the maker’s label is still affixed to the left sleeve cuff.  There is a dry cleaning ticket affixed to the neck loop, but whatever store had this probably had it dry cleaned before dispensing with it.  This vintage 1940s suit jacket has padded shoulders, wide notched lapels, a large patch pocket at either side as well as a pocket at the left chest.  It is half lined.  No pants are included.

Fabric:  Wool in a light brown colour with thin white and red pinstripes

Sleeve label: Fashion Crafts.  Fashion Craft has a place in history due to its efforts, along with the Semi-Ready clothing manufacturing company, to break a general strike by the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union in 1916 in the Montreal clothing industry.  In the end the workers won a number of concessions and Fashion Craft continued in business at least into the 1960s.

Interior label:  Air Loomed Tropical Laurentex Loomed By Kingsilks Tailored By Fashion-Craft.  In addition, there are two tickets in the pocket that appear to indicate a size 36.

Sizing: As mentioned, the tickets indicate that this vintage 1940s suit jacket is a size 36, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders: 17 3/4” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 25 1/2” long taken from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam: 18 1/2” long

Chest: 40” around

Waist: 37” around

Overall length: 29 1/2“, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  This vintage 1940s suit jacket is in excellent condition - looks to have seen no use.

Unusual to find an unused vintage 1940s suit jacket - with the right pair of pants, this vintage 1940s suit jacket will look great!
