CThis is a wonderful 60s mod coat made of black cotton velvet.  This 60s mod coat features a military type collar and lapels, a six button double breasted front and a cutaway flapped faux pocket at either lower front side.  The coat is lined in black rayon or acetate fabric.  The edges of the collar, lapels, opening and faux pocket flaps are trimmed in woven rickrack and the buttons are made of the same woven material.  The back is styled like an old tailcoat with pleated bottom and two decorative buttons.  This 60s mod coat is cut to accent the waist and has an above the knee length.

Label:  Lydia Boutique Montreal Canada.  There is an online article from the Montreal Gazette dated 1963 that profiles this designer “Lydia”, who specialized in designing raincoats.  Otherwise, I’ve been unable to find much else about this particular label, but this may be Lydia Sperlich who designed raincoats for Rainmaster.

Sizing: No size is indicated, however, I believe the this 60s mod coat should fit a small size - please note the following measurements for fit (please measure your body or a similar garment that you may own):

Shoulders:  15” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Sleeves:  23” long from shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam:  16 1/2”

Bust:  36” around

Waist:  30”

Hips:  36”

Length:  33” long, measured flat at the back from the neckline

Condition: This 60s mod coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour - a couple of light marks to the velvet, but these should disappear with a dry cleaning.

This is a youthful design - great 60s mod coat.....
