Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a lovely quality vintage Blin & Blin wool coat made in Canada by Primrose Garments of Toronto.  This vintage Blin & Blin wool coat is beautifully made with pointy collar, slightly padded shoulders, raglan style flared sleeves with turned cuffs, flared body, a slash pocket built into either side and closes with a matching wool belt at the waist as well as with a hook and eye at the neck.  The belt goes through a slit at either side so is not visible at the back.  The edges are trimmed with decorative stitching.  The coat is fully lined in satin acetate and has a cotton interlining for extra warmth.

Label: Pure Laine Blin et Blin Made in France.  Blin & Blin has a history dating to 1825, when it was founded in the Alsace region of France.  Subsequent to the ceding of the region to Germany following the Franco-Prussian war, the Blin family moved production to Elbeuf in Normandy.  The quality of Blin & Blin wool is such that traditional clients were the haute couture fashion houses of Paris, the Vatican and British royalty.  Due to competition from lower cost sources, Blin & Blin filed for bankruptcy in 1975.

Maker:  Content label has a Canadian Textile Identification number of CA00365, which belonged to Primrose Garments of Toronto, which was considered a high-end coat manufacturer

Fabric label:  100% wool / Lining 100% acetate / Interlining 100% cotton.

Union stamp:  Canadian ILGWU used between 1968 and 1984

Sizing: There is no size label, and although this vintage Blin & Blin wool coat should fit a medium to large size, please note the following measurements for fit:

Condition:  This vintage Blin & Blin wool coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or stains - there is a bit of matting at the back seat, but a dry cleaning and pressing will probably largely rectify this.  In addition, there is some discolouration to the lining, mostly at the armpit areas.  Otherwise, the coat appears not to have seen much use and was well cared for and stored over the years.

This is a very stylish vintage Blin & Blin wool coat - superior French Blin & Blin quality wool in a nice weight and thickness!
