1960s Vintage Ski Jacket Faux Fur Parka Lydia Sperlich Sz M

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a wonderful 1960s vintage ski jacket or parka made of acrylic faux fur imitating sealskin.  This vintage ski jacket was designed by Lydia Sperlich for Rainmaster - please note my last photo, showing a snippet from an article that states that Sperlich designed this faux fur Norwegian seal ski jacket in 1967.  This vintage ski jacket is made with an attached hood, drawstrings at the neck, a brass metal zipper front and is elasticized at the cuffs and bottom of the jacket, which forms a flounce at each of those areas.  It has a vertical slash pocket built into either side and is trimmed with embroidery along the sleeve inseam and sides of the body, this done for decorative reasons and also to avoid wear to the faux fur due to the rubbing of the sleeve against the body.  The hood is trimmed with brown faux fur.  The interior of this vintage ski jacket is lined in a quilted fabric, for extra warmth.
Label: Rainmaster ® by Lydia Sperlich Made in Canada.  Rainmaster was a trademark of Sport Togs.
Union label:  ILGWU, International Ladies Garment Workers Union, used between 1956 and 1968
Sizing: There is no size label, but this vintage ski jacket should fit a medium size, maybe large, but I think that this would fit more properly on a medium size and should have a “puffy” fit.  Please note the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders:  16 1/2” across
Sleeves:  23” long
Sleeve inseam:  15”
Bust:  47” around, allow extra room for fit
Bottom:  34” around unstretched, 42” fully stretched
Length:  27 1/2”, measured flat from the neck seam
Condition:  This vintage ski jacket is in very good condition with no pronounced marking, wear, tear or stains - a little bit of soiling to the label, but otherwise, this appears to have seen little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a quality vintage ski jacket - sure to be noticed!
