This is a lovely flower handled cup and saucer set made by Royal Stafford English Bone China probably during the 1940s or early 50s. Royal Stafford was the brand name of Thomas Poole of Longton, originally appearing circa 1843 - Royal Stafford is one of the oldest potteries existing in the Burslem, Staffordshire area. The set is decorated with very pretty viola flowers around the exterior of the cup, the periphery of the saucer and with one viola on the interior of the cup. The top edge of the cup, the foot of the cup, the centre of the cup, the handle and the interior and exterior edges of the saucer are painted in gold. The set is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear - note that it looks like there is a chip to the top of the handle in one of the photos, but there isnt, its simply made like this. Both pieces ping nicely. The saucer measures 5 1/2 square and the cup has a height of 2 3/4 and a measures 3 1/4 in diameter at the top.
This is a very pretty cup with a lovely flower handle - very nice display set!
