This is a chrome-plated tea strainer used on the RMS Ascania, a passenger steamship operated by the Cunard Line. The first RMS Ascania was built in 1911 and was wrecked during WWI in 1918 after being attacked by U Boats. The second RMS Ascania was launched in 1923, but only made her maiden voyage in 1925. After service during the war, she was returned to passenger service before being broken up in 1957. The tea strainer has the emblem of the RMS Ascania enamelled on copper and affixed to the front of the perforated bowl. It measures 6 1/4 in length and is in very good condition. Note that the crest on this piece features the original Cunard line flag before the merger with the White Star line in 1934.
This is a nice collectible piece - please view my other listings for more Cunard collectibles.
