This is a vintage controlled bubble glass small bowl or ashtray that was designed by Elis Bergh for Kosta Glasbruk of Sweden. Hagbard Elias (Elis) Bergh (18811954) was an architect and designer who worked as the artistic director at Kosta from 1928 until 1950. The glass is made in a deep green colour with bullicante (controlled air bubbles). Most people describe this piece as an ashtray, but there are no cigarette rests. The piece measures 5 in diameter with a height of 2 1/2. It weighs 2 lbs. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear except for the underside from surface contact, a sign of its age. No makers marks are visible. Bergh was responsible for modernizing Kostas designs after the war - this is a very nice example!
