This is a striking piece of Chalet glass made in a four armed bowl form with two spoke handles emanating up from either end and two curled pieces at either side. The piece is acid etched on its underside with an E within a diamond, the mark that Chalet Canada used when they made pieces for the Eatons department store chain. Chalet was started in Montreal as Murano Glass Inc. in 1960 and when it moved to Cornwall in 1962, the name was changed to Chalet. The employees at Chalet were glassblowers who immigrated to Canada from Murano, Italy. This piece is made an interesting tone of lemony olive green glass with clear base. The piece measures 22 1/2 in width and 10 3/4 in depth - it has a height of 9 3/4 to the top of the end spokes. Due to its size, weight and fragility, it will be shipped well protected and double boxed in an oversized box. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear. Ive felt the entire area with my fingers are there is no surface roughness or damage. This is a very nice addition to a Chalet collection or simply a wonderful display piece for a mid-century modern decor - fabulous colour and form!
