This is a lovely flower handled cup and saucer set made by Royal Stafford English Bone China during the 1930s. Royal Stafford was the brand name of Thomas Poole of Longton, originally appearing circa 1845, but the mark on the underside of this set was used from 1929 until 1940. The set is decorated in a very attractive solid yellow colour that offsets the very pretty hand painted flowers (I think pansies) on the handle. The top edge of the cup and the interior and exterior edges of the saucer are painted in gold. The set is in very good condition with no chips or cracks - there is minor wear to the raised rays near the centre of the saucer (see photo), emphasized by the photo lighting, and not very noticeable at all under normal viewing. In addition, there is a red seal of some sort on the underside of the cup - you could most likely remove this if desired. Both pieces ping nicely. The saucer measures 5 3/8 square and the cup has a height of 3 and a measures 3 square at the top.
This cup features wonderful art deco squared form in a cheerful colour and a very pretty flower handle - beautiful display piece!
