This is a 3 cup (24 oz) capacity teapot made by Wood & Sons in their English Scenery blue and white pattern. The teapot has a lovely squat form with an irregular rounded opening so that the lid can be only placed in one way. The underside reads Enoch Woods English Scenery Woods Ware Enoch 1784 Ralph 1750 Wood & Sons England. This particular backstamp was in use from 1917 until, I believe, about 1930. It was re-introduced during the 1960s but with additional text such as Detergent Proof. The teapot is in very clean condition with no chips, cracks or wear - there are some tiny glaze inclusions at the tip of the spout, but this is probably original to the making of the piece and quite minor (see last close-up photo) - looks worse magnified than in real life. The teapot measures 10" in length from the back of the handle to the tip of spout and has a height of 4" exclusive of its lid.
This is a wonderful addition to a blue and white collection, or simply as a lovely teapot to use and display - nice English quality.
