This is a wonderful piece of cobalt blue glazed souvenir china featuring a graphic of the Crystal Palace, which was located in Hyde Park, London, England. The piece is made in the form of a small jug with a curvilinear top and a tall, curved handle. It measures 3 7/8 tall at its handle, 3 1/2 wide from the back of its handle to the tip of its spout and about 1 5/8 in depth. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear - note that the white enamel overpaint is supposed to be water spouting from the fountains. The underside is stamped Made in Germany.
The Crystal Palace was originally built to house the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was relocated in 1852 and destroyed by fire in 1936.
This is a pretty piece - nice addition to a cobalt souvenir china collection or a Crystal Palace collection!
