This is an antique jar that would have contained meat paste, made by the firm of Felix and Richard Pratt of Fenton, England. The piece is made of terra cotta pottery and decorated in black with a fox hunting scene, complete with horse riders, dogs and a man holding up a fox in the air. The underside is marked with the British registry mark indicating a manufacture date of August, 1856. The jar is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear, but the foxs head features are no longer there (see photo). The jar would benefit from a bit of a cleaning but has been well preserved for the last 160 years. It measures 4 in height and weighs 13 oz, quite heavy for its size.
Very old piece - great display in the right decor!
