This is a lovely Limoges porcelain cup and saucer that is hand painted in a delicate floral design and detailed in gold. The underside of each piece is stamped with the mark that stands for Charles Ahrenfeldt and was used between 1896 and 1930 - this cup, however, I believe, dates to the turn of the century. Ahrenfeldt had been a New York importer, but set up a decorating and manufacturing factory in Limoges during the 1860s that would export to the United States. The saucer measures 5 5/8 in diameter while the cup measures 2 in height and 3 3/4 in diameter. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no noted wear, chips, cracks or repairs and both ping nicely when tapped. This is a beautiful display cup - lovely and delicate porcelain, expertly hand painted!
