This is a lovely cup and saucer made in the Adelaide footed form by John Rose at the Coalport Porcelain Works, circa 1825. Neither piece has a makers mark, but the saucer is hand numbered 4/467 twice, which is the marking system used by the John Rose Co at the Coalport Porcelain Works during the first quarter of the 19th century. The set features different hand painted landscape scenes inset twice in the interior of the cup and three times around the saucer. The design incorporates leaves and flowers as well as shell-like scrolling, all in gold - the edge of either piece has raised detail that is covered in gold. The saucer measures 6 31/4 in diameter and the cup has a height of 2 3/4 with a top diameter of 3 1/2. Both pieces are in very good condition with the exception of wear to the gold on the saucer (see photo of saucer). Otherwise, there may be other minor wear, but no chips, cracks or anything that would detract from the display of the set. This is an exceptional cup and saucer set featuring quality, age and rarity - despite the gold wear, a wonderful addition to a cup collection.....
