This is a beautifully worked 9 karat Victorian gold brooch made in a bar pin form, set with a small old cut diamond in its centre. The pin is stylistically Etruscan Revival with detailing meant to simulate granulation. Etruscan Revival jewelry was most popular during the 1860 to 1880 period, influenced by discoveries unearthed in Italy during the early 1800s, in sites such as Pompeii. The brooch measures 1 7/8 wide by 3/4 high. It has a chain and safety pin affixed to it for securing the brooch in case the pin were to release. The back is stamped only with 9 Ct. The piece weighs 3 grams. It is in very good condition with a small ding to the raised panel that appears to the right of centre - looks worse in the photos (due to glare) than in real life.
This is a very nice Victorian gold brooch.
