This is a quality 19th century porcelain figurine made in the form of a boy holding a dog erect by the ear. The underside is marked underglaze with a single line crossed through double lines in blue underglaze, the mark of the Sitzendorfer Porzellanfabrik Gebrder Voigt factory. The factory was first located in Sitzendorf, but soon relocated to Volkstedt, Thuringia, Germany. This mark was used between 1884 and 1902. The factory during this period was known for producing Meissen-like lace pieces as well as other quality porcelain. This figurine is an example of the high quality that the Voigt Sitzendorf factory produced. It is a small figurine measuring 3 7/8 in height. but the attention to detail in the modelling and finishing of the figurine is wonderful. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, wear or repairs. This is a lovely quality 19th century figurine, produced in an area of Germany known for the highest quality porcelain - wonderful addition to a collection!
