This is a Georgian era cup and saucer set dating to circa 1825-1835. The cup is made in the London shape, which was popular during the early 1800s. Each piece is hand painted with leafs in pink lustre with gold overlay and green. Difficult to ascribe a maker as there is only a number 46 on the underside of the saucer, but early manufacturers would mark only with a number. The porcelain has some degree of translucence,. The set is in very good condition with the exception of what appear to be firing fissures on the top edge of the cup - one of them has migrated down slightly, but neither is that noticeable under normal viewing and look a lot worse in the close-up photos provided. Aside from that, there are two glaze inclusions and a tiny bit of wear to the decoration. Considering its age, this set is in very acceptable condition. The saucer measures 5 1/2 in diameter, has a depth 1 1/4, and the cup has a height of 2 1/2 and a top diameter of 3 1/2. This is a lovely display cup and saucer, very pretty colour and very old!
