1962 Vintage City of Montreal Quebec Restaurant Ware Syracuse China Gravy Boat

This is a restaurant ware gravy boat made by Syracuse China in 1962 for the City of Montreal. The pattern consists of the four symbols of the founding peoples of the city - the Fleur de Lys for the French, the Shamrock for the Irish, the Thistle for the Scottish and the Lancaster Rose representing the English, all tied together with a blue and gold toned ribbon. The underside is stamped Syracuse .. China U.S.A. 91-H - 91-H is the date code for August, 1962. You can imagine Mayor Jean Drapeau passing the gravy on to Pierre Dupuy while making plans to stage Expo 67. The gravy boat measures 8 1/2 in length from the back of the handle to the tip of the spout, has a width of 3 3/8 at its width and a height of 5 at its handle. It weighs 15 oz, close to a pound. It is in very clean condition with no chips, cracks or wear. I imagine that not too many of these were produced and most have been lost or discarded, or this is a great addition to a Syracuse China collection or for the Montreal collector!
