1958 Doctor Zhivago 1st Edition 1st Printing Pantheon US w Dust Jacket

This is a US first edition of the book Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. The book was published by Pantheon in 1958 and is presumed a first printing as no other printings are stated. The American edition followed the 1957 British edition by Collins and featured revisions to the translation from Russian. It has its original dust jacket, which has the original price of $4.50 handwritten on the front flap. The original owners name with the year 58 is handwritten on the front endleaf. The dust jacket is rough, but has protected the book, which is in good condition with edge staining that has not penetrated to the interior (see last close-up photo) and a few small finger smudges on pages 8 and 9 (see second to last photo).
Despite the small problems, a solid reading copy, and still a nice collectible book.
