Vintage Enamel Compact Italian 800 Silver Courting Couple

This is a vintage enamel compact made of gold plated 800 silver that is inlaid with hand painted enamel. The enamel depicts an 18th century courting couple in the Fragonard style. This vintage enamel compact is of Italian origin and was made sometime between the 1930s and the 1950s - it is stamped simply with “800” on the interior bottom. The compact measures 2 3/4” in diameter by 1/2” in height - it weighs 71 grams. It is in very good condition - I don’t think that this saw any use. The original screen is present and very clean, the mirror is clear and there is no noted scratching. There is, however, some patina to the gold plating - I haven’t tried to polish it, so will leave the decision to do so or leave it patinated to the eventual owner. This is a lovely vintage enamel compact - beautiful quality…..
