This is a wonderful 1940s custom tailored 3 piece tuxedo with peaked lapels in black grosgrain. The date on the tailor’s label reads Mar 20, 1941 (see photo) - I’ve obliterated the owner’s name for privacy. The jacket has padded shoulders and a double button closure with a gap so that the vest underneath is visible. The jacket has a breast pocket and a flapped pocket at either side. The sleeves have a four button cuff. The pants have a button-up fly and buttons on the exterior waistband that would accommodate suspenders - the pants come with a pair of black suspenders. There is a satin stripe down the legs. The tux is a black colour. The vest is very stylish with an angular lapel, two pockets, a four button closure and a black satin back.
Label: SW Howarth. Howarth was a venerable men’s shop located in Montreal, known for quality tailoring.
Fabric: Wool
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium size (38/40) - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the cut of the garment and thickness of fabric into account:

Sleeves: 24” long
Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2”
Chest: 40” around, buttoned, taken under the arms
Waist: 38” around

Waist: 35” around

Condition: The set is in very good condition, with no wear, tear or staining - the only noted defects are a missing button from either cuff. The buttons are generic plastic, so replacements should be easy to come by.
This is a quality custom tailored tuxedo from 1941 - unusual to find 3 piece tux sets like this!
