Vintage 1950s Wool Dressing Gown Striped Robe Mens Size S

This is a wonderful vintage mens wool dressing gown or lounging robe featuring a classic striped pattern in tones of red, purple and white.   This wool dressing gown has a shawl collar, turned cuffs and has a matching patterned sash belt. It has a pocket at either side.

Label: Fashion Plate.  Fashion Plate was a Montreal based manufacturer

Age:  Most likely 1950s.  I’ve had Fashion Plate dressing gowns in the past that dated to the 1930s and 40s, but I think that this is a 50s era one.  Fashion Plate went out of business in 1952

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this wool dressing gown is short waisted and should fit a small size, probably short, please rely on the following measurements for fit (note the sleeve length):

Shoulders: 17” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 17 3/4” long

Sleeve Inseam: 17” long

Chest: 40” around, approximate (depending on overlap), 20” across pit-to-pit

Waist: 40”, Meant to be cinched

Overall length: 43”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  This wool dressing gown is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odour - there is a pinprick sized hole at the back that is visible when inspected with a light behind it, but otherwise is basically very difficult to see.

This is a classic mens striped wool dressing gown - great vintage look!
