Vintage 1950s Day Dress Adele Martin Original Size M

This is a wonderful 1950s day dress that features an embroidered design of a bee, grasshopper and wheat on the front skirt.  This 1950s day dress is made in a sleeveless sheath style, has a bateau or boat neckline, defined waist and is made in a below the knee length.  The dress is lined and does up the back with a nylon zipper.  There are loops at the side and front that would accommodate a belt, but none is supplied.  The rayon fabric used to make the dress has a “slubbed” texture, similar to raw silk.

Care label:  WPL 7588 100% Rayon Exclusive of Decoration - Have refreshed by reliable dry cleaner…or wash separately by hand using mild soap such as Lux or Ivory.  Press with cool iron Use No Bleach or “Whiteners”

Union label: ILGWU, used between 1955 and 1963.  This 1950s day dress could be from the early 60s, which I consider just an extension of the 50s.

Sizing:  No size is indicated on this 1950s day dress, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, keeping the style of the garment in mind (please measure your body or a similar garment that you might own for comparison):

Shoulders:  16” across the top

Bust: 37”-38” around

Waist: 27”

Hips:  37”-38” around

Overall length: 42", measured flat from the top to the hemline

Condition:  This 1950s day dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours.  This dress was well stored over the years and presents itself very well.
