This is a men’s vintage Aquascutum overcoat made by the Aquascutum of London facility located in Canada. Aquascutum established their Canadian operations in 1949 in order to serve the North American market and closed those operations in 1994 repatriating production to England. This vintage Aquascutum overcoat is made in a luxurious blend of 50% cashmere, 35% wool, and 15% nylon, with a full acetate lining. It is cut in a classic single-breasted style with notch lapels, three-button front closure, flap pockets, and a back vent for ease of movement. The dark navy colour and tailored silhouette make this an elegant and versatile topcoat, suitable over a suit or casual wear.
The interior label on this vintage Aquascutum overcoat bears the Royal Warrant “By Appointment to H.M. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother,” used between 1966 and 2002. Based on the styling, materials, and care label, this coat most likely dates to the late 1970s or early 1980s.
