Vintage 1970s Dress w Poet Sleeves Marie Martine Paris Sz M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a vintage 1970s dress made of red crepe with fabulous polka dot chiffon “balloon” or “poet” sleeves. This vintage 1970s dress has a V shaped neckline and pleated polka dot chiffon insets at the front, back and sides. It is lined in red acetate and closes at the back with a metal zipper. The belt is a replacement that I matched to the dress.
Label: Marie Martine Paris. The Marie Martine fashion house was established in 1955 and had its heyday during the 1960s when she dressed such French celebrities as Brigitte Bardot and Francoise Hardy. Marie Martine also designed costumes for four French movies from 1959 through to 1966.
Fabric: Crepe, I believe rayon based with chiffon sleeves and insets that I believe are silk chiffon.
Sizing: There is no size label, and although this vintage 1970s dress should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking into account the style of this vintage 1970s dress (please measure your body or a similar garment that you might own for comparison):
Bust: 35”-36” around
Waist: 29” around, uncinched
Hips: 36” around
Overall length: 42“, measured flat
Belt: adjustable from 30 1/2” to 34 1/2” - it’s a little large for the dress, so would need to be altered either by adding a hole or shortening the belt at the buckle, although this would require removing rivets.
Condition: This vintage 1970s dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or soiling. As mentioned, please note that the belt is not original to the dress and would need to be altered.
This is a wonderful vintage 1970s dress with spectacular sleeves - sure to be noticed!
