Vintage 1940s Dressing Gown 3 Leaf Clover Pattern Sz M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful vintage 1940s dressing gown printed with a tiny three leaf clover pattern against a black background. This 1940s dressing gown has elbow length sleeves with a small puff at the shoulder seam, wide wing type lapels and closes with a matching sash belt that goes through a hole at either side. It is cut with a full skirt so that it falls in drapes. There is a patch pocket applied to the left side.
Age: probably 1940s, but possibly late 30s
Fabric: Unsure, but I think that it is a natural rayon. It has a slight sheen and stemmed beautifully.
Sizing: Size 44 is indicated, and although this 1940s dressing gown should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 13 1/2” across seam-to-seam, but one’s shoulder cap would fit into the puff of the top sleeve
Sleeves: 11 1/2” from the seam
Sleeve inseam: 6”
Bust: 38” around
Hips: 44”, meant to fall loosely
Overall length: 43” measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This 1940s dressing gown is in excellent condition with the exception of a threaded area at the middle left of the skirt of the dressing gown - I think that the original owner may have sewn a snap there, but the snap is now gone. Otherwise, no other wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour - this 1940s dressing gown looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a very nice 1940s dressing gown - understated, but lovely and probably lucky with all of the three leaf clovers!
