This is a vintage wedding photo of a bride with her bridesmaids, taken by renowned Australian photographer Monte Luke. Monte Luke was born Charles Robert Montague Luke in Victoria, Australia in 1885. From the early 1920s through to the 1950s, he headed the studio that bore his name, photographing Sidney society, including politicians, celebrities in sports and arts, corporate figures and society weddings. This photo was taken sometimes during the 1940s and was hand coloured in the production process. It measures 9 1/4” by 11 1/2” and is hand signed “Monte Luke” on the matte under the photo. It is in an original Monte Luke folder, which measures 12 3/8” by 16 3/4” closed. The photo is in very good condition while the folder has some corner wear, fairly minor, and slight exterior surface soiling, again, not pronounced.
