This is a mens vintage 1950s dressing gown or lounging robe featuring an abstract woven pattern in shiny blue against a matte satin blue background colour.  This 1950s dressing gown has a blue satin shawl collar, turned blue satin cuffs and has a matching blue satin sash belt.  It has a chest pocket and pocket at either side.
Label: Tailored by Bonnington Reg’d as well as “Bennington Reg’d Tailored By H.V. Cowie Co. Limited” on the neck loop - Bonnington was the brand name of the H.V. Cowie Co Limited of Toronto.  Cowie was founded in 1922 by Hedley Vicars Cowie and specialized in manufacturing and importing menswear.  Bonnington was registered as a brand in 1945.  The company declined after H.V. Cowie’s death in 1965 and the plant was sold in 1967, although they continued activity as an importer until dissolution in 2008. Sizing: Size M is indicated, and although this 1950s dressing gown should fit a man that fits a US size medium, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 18” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 25 1/2” long
Sleeve Inseam: 19” long
Chest: 46” around, approximate, depending on overlap
Waist: 48”, but meant to be cinched with the belt
Overall length: 52”, measured flat
Condition: This 1950s dressing gown is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or staining.  This was well cared for and stored over the last 70 or so years
