This is a vintage 1970s era skirt that was made in India under the Ritu’s label - I’m unsure if this has anything to do with Indian designer Ritu Kumar.  The skirt is block printed with an ornate floral and foliate pattern with peacock representations around the bottom of the skirt. The print is in tones of dark and light blue, pink and white with metallic gold accents. The fabric was made in India of 100% cotton, woven in a lightweight gauzy construction, great for summer wear.  The skirt has an elasticized waistband with drawstrings and is lined at the upper section only so that the peacock motifs have some light transparency.

Label: Ritu’s.  The content label has CA04733 on its back - this is the identification of the Canadian importer, Trio-Selection of Montreal.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a range of medium sizes - please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the skirt into consideration:

Waist:  Anywhere between 24” at its smallest adjustment to about 36” around at its largest adjustment - you simply need to

Hips:  Full  meant to fall loosely

Overall length: 30“, measured flat

Condition: This skirt is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or staining.  It looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.

These early 70s Indian cotton skirts look great and are comfy to wear…..wonderful festival piece!
