This striking large enamel on copper wall plaque is signed Jules Perrier, Quebec. Measuring 15 3/4" across the top and 16 1/4" along the underside curve, this large enamel on copper wall plaque features a bold mid-century raised abstract design with textured enamel in rich tones of orange, brown, green, and white. The piece is made in a bowl-like form, giving it depth and dimension that make it a true statement piece. It came with a wire hanger, and although I will include it, I don’t recommend using it as it causes some stress to the piece.
Jules Perrier was a Canadian artist active in the mid-20th century, known for his enamel works that combined bold colours and abstract patterns with the durability of fired copper enamel. His pieces are highly collectible and represent a unique period of Canadian studio art.
Condition: Very good overall, with vibrant colours and strong presence. There are two areas of stress cracks in the enamel (shown in photos) that do not detract significantly from display.
This large enamel on copper wall plaque is a fine example of mid-century Canadian design and would make an excellent addition to a collection of studio craft or enamel art or simply a wonderful mid century decor display piece!
