This is a wonderful pair of vintage mens shoes made in a black and white leather wingtip style. These shoes have their original leather sewn-in sole and rubber heel. They are “safety” shoes, with a steel reinforced toe, and were made by Hy-Test, a known maker of safety shoes since the 1940s, and still in business today. They feature a plain toe and a five eye lace-up. No laces are included.
Sizing: Size 8 1/2 appears to be indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, as they might fit a size 9:
Insoles: 11 1/4” in length from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel
Soles: 11 7/8” in length from the sole sew line to the back of the heel
Sole width: 3 3/4” at their widest between sole sew lines
Condition:These look to have seen little or use and were well stored and cared for over the years. The soles do demonstrate evidence of use (see photo) but the rubber heel has only a hint of wear and the uppers are in great condition. The insoles could be re-glued as they are lifting at the sides. Really, this pair is in surprisingly wonderful condition for a used pair of shoes that are close to 50 years old.
This is a great pair of vintage shoes. Not your typical safety shoes, these have a lot of panache, great hipster shoes and could easily pass for 40s swing shoes....
