Vintage Italian Majolica Portrait Plate Charger Unsigned Deruta Style 12.75

This is a wonderful vintage Italian majolica charger or portrait plate featuring a hand painted portrait of what looks like a Roman emperor. The charger has some depth so that the rim is raised compared to the centre of the piece. The charger is unmarked and is not true tin-glazed majolica, but looks very much like it was made in the Deruta region and based on an original Renaissance model. It measures 12 3/4 in diameter. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear, but there is overall crazing that appears to be original to the manufacture of the piece. The raised rim on the underside is drilled and has a string affixed to it that enables the piece to be hung on the wall. This is a wonderful display piece - nice quality wall decor!
