Vintage Italian 800 Silver Compact with Hand Painted Enamel Courting Couple

This is a vintage compact made of gold plated 800 silver that is inlaid with hand painted enamel. The enamel depicts an 18th century courting couple in the Fragonard style. The compact is of Italian origin and was made sometime between the 1930s and the 1950s - it is stamped simply with 800 on the interior bottom. The compact measures 2 3/4 in diameter by 1/2 in height - it weighs 71 grams. It is in very good condition - I dont think that this saw any use. The original screen is present and very clean, the mirror is clear and there is no noted scratching. There is, however, some patina to the gold plating - I havent tried to polish it, so will leave the decision to do so or leave it patinated to the eventual owner. This is a lovely compact - beautiful quality..
