Vintage Beaded Handbag Purse Made in France Spritzer & Fuhrmann Curacao Aruba

This is a beautiful quality beaded handbag made in France for Spritzer & Fuhrmann of Curacao - Aruba.  Spritzer & Fuhrmann was founded in 1929 by Charles Fuhrmann and Wolf Spritzer, two recent immigrants to Curacao.  They began as a watch repair and sales business, expanding to Aruba, and soon opening a second shop in Curacao specializing in jewelry.  World War II helped grow their business due to the US servicemen stationed there and then the cruise industry further grew their business during the 1950s and 60s.  They became renowned for quality merchandise, superb service and exceptional guarantees.  

This beaded purse features a beautiful rose flower design on both the front and back.  The beading is made up of silver and iridescent glass beads - gorgeous shimmer that the photos do not do justice to.  It has a gold plated frame with a raised flower design on it.  The interior has a pocket built onto either side and is lined in taupe coloured satin.  It has a beaded carrying strap.  It comes in its original black velveteen finished box with a glass centred lid.

Sizing: 6 3/4” x 9”. Handle has a drop of 6 1/2”

Condition:  The purse looks like it saw little to no use - there is a stitched repair to the top centre of the carrying strap of the purse, professionally done and shouldn’t bother anyone.  The purse is very clean, inside and out.  The box has some wear to the gold stamping and foxing on the interior bottom from contact over the years with the metal beads (see last photo) - the purse is not affected.
