This is a great find - vintage purple and black “sharkskin” woven fabric, unused in a bolt that measures 48” in width.  The fabric is in two pieces - one length measures 94” while the other length measures 147” for a total of a little over 6 yards.  The fabric is in like-new condition except that the portion wrapped around the bolt to the outside has discoloured on the backside from exposure - that is only 16” of the 94” piece and won’t be seen as it is the backside of the fabric; the top side is not affected.  This fabric was acquired from the liquidation of an old fur business, so obviously had been used to line fur coats, scarves or hats.  Most of the fabric acquired from the furrier dates to the 1950s or 60s, so this fabric is also from that date range.  I took a piece from the bolt to perform a burn test - the result was a light ash that I think indicated a weighted silk, but I can't be 100% positive.  Definitively not a synthetic, and very nice quality and appearance nevertheless.

This is nice quality material in a striking two-tone purple colour, very rich looking - wonderful if you need to re-line a fur coat, or perhaps could be used to make other items from a skirt, jacket, scarves to pillows or anything else that you can think of!
