This is a 1960s, era cotton sun dress made by De Weese.  The dress has adjustable shoulder straps and an elasticized smocked back.  The bust is defined by an inverted V seam and the mid section is fitted, defined at the bottom by a V shaped seam.  The skirt is cut to flare to the hemline in a below the knee length.  It is unlined and has no closures, it simply slips over the head.

Label:  De Weese Design - the back of the label reads “Swim and Sun Fashions Los Angeles California”.  De Weese was founded by Mary Ann De Weese in 1951 after a 16 year career designing for Los Angeles Knitting Mills.  De Weese was a highly acclaimed designer, working with Hollywood stars and designing the swimsuits used for the Miss America Pageant. Waist: 25” around

Hips:  36” around

Overall length: 43“, measured flat from the top of the shoulder strap, adjusted to its highest setting, to the hemline

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or soiling.
