This is a 1950s era black velvet brocade coat with dark brown fox fur collar and cuffs.  The coat is cut to fit loosely with a flare to the hemline so that it falls in drapes, somewhat like a swing coat - it should accommodate a large to extra large size.  It is lined in black satin and has both a wool interfacing as well as a chamois interfacing for extra warmth.  I assume that the exterior is a cotton based velvet fabric.  The coat does up the front with three button covered snaps.  There is a pocket built into either front side.  The fur collar could be worn either down or up around the face for extra warmth - I’ve posed it both ways in the photos supplied.  The sleeves are cut in a raglan style. It is possible that the coat was shortened as the length is not typical of a 50s coat - there is a 5 1/2” hem on the interior bottom.  Please note that the coat is suitable for winter wear, but is of a heavier weight.

Label: Imported Vel-our-ette Styled by Entire

Sizing: As mentioned, this should fit a large to extra large size, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior, noting the style of the coat:

Sleeves:  26 1/2” from the neck seam to the end of the fur cuff

Sleeve inseam:  13 1/2”

Bust:  54” around

Waist:  55” around

Hemline:  78” around

Length:  35”, measured flat

Condition:  This coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or soiling.  The label has the original owner’s name written on it is ink, minor issue (see photo of label).  This was well stored and cared for over the years.
