This is a wonderful 1920s or early 1930s hat pin holder or bud vase made in an art deco rocket form by Lancaster & Sons of Hanley, England. The piece is finished in a peach lustre glaze with a transfer printed chintz floral pattern around its top. The top collar is banded with sterling silver that is impressed with Sterling Silver, not typical sterling marking for British silver, which makes me think that this was an export piece that perhaps had the silver applied after import. The piece measures 7 in height and is fairly heavy for its size. It is in very good condition with the exception of some denting and tarnish to the silver collar. Otherwise, there are no other defects including no chips, cracks or wear. The underside is stamped with the Lancaster & Sons backstamp that was used from 1920 until about 1930, although it may have been used into the 30s, Im not clear on this. This is a really interesting piece - wonderful shape and lustre finish, lovely display item!
