Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is an antique “Mauchline Ware” glove stretcher featuring a transfer printed image of “Washington’s Head Quarters Newburgh N.Y.” The prongs are made of wood, most likely sycamore, and has a spring loaded mechanism.  Mauchline ware originated in Scotland during the early 19th century and transfer printed pieces were produced from about 1850 until 1933.  This piece measures 7” in length and is in very good condition with no signs of wear.  Great addition to a Mauchline collection!
